The Overwhelmed Vet Podcast

Ep. 59: Coming back from “I’ve messed up my whole life”. Interview with Sarah Garven, Scottish veterinarian and personal/career coach.

Gunila Pedersen

Sarah burnt out in 2004 and left vet med after having tried several modalities of veterinary practice.

Since being a new grad she never felt she got a handle on it, and deeply believed she had to be right all the time in order to be a “good vet”. Like many of us (most?!?), she just didn’t feel she knew what she was doing most of the time, and it took its toll.

After a 12 year break she realised she wanted to get back to being a veterinarian, and despite a lot of fear and self doubt she did so, with great success.

So successful in fact, that she not only fully enjoys working as a GP, but also started coaching others that feel stagnant in their life and career.

Join our conversation where you’ll learn why messing up your life might not be the worst thing, that your degree is never wasted, and that you can ALWAYS take a break from vet med and come back stronger than ever.
